Where to find Help
UK ONLY

This site is designed to help you explore a specific way  of looking at how to go about dealing with the ups and downs this life can throw our way.  Sometimes our issues are urgent and need specialist attention or are more practical in nature.  I have compiled a list to assist you if you find yourself in this position.

PHYSICAL EMERGENCY UK: 999

PSYCHOLOGICAL EMERGENCY UK: 999 OR SAMARITANS ON 116 123

***IF YOU ARE WITH SOMEONE IN CRISIS DO NOT LEAVE THEM UNTIL HELP ARRIVES***

  • First port of call for a non-emergency:  your Gp

  • 111 if you think you need help outside of Gp hours.

Other avenues to explore:

  • Citizensadvice.org.uk 08082231133 (free):  for confidential advice and information regarding legal, debt, consumer or housing issues and many more.

  • Mind.org.uk03001233393 (cost of a standard landline):   information and advice for mental health problems.

  • Spiritual support and advice:  Most of us find comfort in that feeling of belonging to a group of like-minded people, those that we can share our thoughts with and draw support from. A good place to start would be the local church or mosque whose values' most closely resemble your own.  If you are not sure about that,  then try reading up on the main world religions first and see what resonates with you.

  • Health and fitness alternatives:  If you have a diagnosis and are receiving conventional support there are a number of other options open to you that you can use to complement and support your treatment.  Make sure you talk to your health care provider about what you are doing beyond their support to make sure there are no conflicts between the two.  Also, make sure you find a practitioner who comes recommended, is on a register supplied by a monitoring or governing body and that they have relevant qualifications.

Some suggestions but by no means an exhaustive list:

  • Acupuncturist

  • Bowen practitioner

  • Counsellor or CBT therapist

  • Functional medicine practitioner

  • Hands on healing at your local spiritualist church (donation usually)

  • Local gym

  • Local walking group/walk a dog with a friend/visit the countryside

  • Nutritionist or allergy/intolerance testing/genetic testing

  • Physiotherapist or Osteopath

  • Tai chi class

  • Yoga or Pilates class
