About Amanda

HELLO THERE!
This is probably the hardest page to write. What can I tell you that might encourage you to read on — or perhaps get in touch? I have placed a couple of photographs of myself on the site, because I like to put a name to a face and I thought you might too. You can see from them that I am not very good at the media stuff — and I hope that also tells you something: what you see is what you get. I haven’t doctored anything or tried to look my best. I don’t wear make-up on a daily basis, and I couldn’t see the sense in looking different when I am trying to show you who I am.
JUST BEING REAL
Putting images of myself out there doesn’t come naturally to me either — probably the understatement of the year — but I think it matters for you to be able to use your own senses as well as my words to create an informed opinion.

WHO AM I?
I am at an age where I qualify as a senior citizen at the cinema but not yet on the bus, and my pension remains somewhere on the horizon. I am a wife, a mother, and a grandmother — all aspects to my life that I am very grateful to enjoy.
MY JOURNEY
Over the years I have turned my hand to more things than most people might expect. Secretarial work and bookkeeping, solicitor’s accounts, boarding and rehoming animals, veterinary services, caring for people in their own homes. I have worked as a tarot reader at Mind Body Spirit fairs, as an online reader and as a healer for both people and animals. In fact, I worked with animals first and they taught me a great deal with their natural trust in the energy that was being offered to them.

NOT A NATURAL
But the role that tends to raise the most eyebrows is this one: for thirteen years, I worked as my husband’s labourer. He has worked all his life as a general builder, and when the industry went through a quiet spell, I offered to step in rather than have him continually find work to employ someone else. It just went from there. I was not a natural — not by any stretch — but I worked hard, and to my husband’s great credit and considerable patience, he only sacked me approximately three times a day, making sure to re-hire me each morning.
A CHANGE OF DIRECTION
We managed that way for quite some time, until a health setback made it clear that knocking up pug and bumping out bricks was no longer a sensible option, but I will tell you more about that later.

JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE
I tell you all of this because it matters. Sometimes people get a bit of a mystical idea about those of us who work with different vibrations but I am simply trying to get through just like everyone else. I have not lived a life apart from ordinary things. I have worked hard, made mistakes, laughed at myself, and got back up. That is the ground from which everything else has grown.
ANOTHER THREAD
Alongside all of that ordinary living, there has always been another thread, though. I think I have believed in life after death for as long as I can remember. As a youngster I read books about it and it felt right to me, instinctively. I was perhaps six or seven years old when I first became aware of my grandfather coming to visit me. I had wanted to go to his funeral but was told I was too young — so he came to me instead. I didn’t see him physically — I think that might have frightened me then — but I felt his energy around me, and it was very reassuring.

SEARCHING AGAIN
As I got older, I was always very sensitive to the world around me but generally just got on with living. It was only when life started to throw some curve balls my way that I started to search again to find a deeper meaning to all that was going on to me and around me.
THIRTY YEARS
For more than thirty years now, I have worked with people at the crossroads of their lives — through numerology, healing, meditation, card readings, and the kind of quiet listening that goes deeper than words. I have sat with people in grief, in confusion, in transition, in joy. I have watched people discover strengths they had no idea they carried.

WHAT I BELIEVE
We come to this earth to learn. We have strengths to offer and weaknesses to overcome — and the complicated dance of life is there to offer us opportunities to do both.
FREE WILL
We always have free will. We may dig deep and grasp an opportunity with both hands — or we may not. I have walked alongside people at many different stages of this journey, sharing in their successes and sitting with them in their struggles. And what I have come to know, above all else, is this: we never stop learning. That is why I always say the journey is yours. You make the choices as you go. I can offer you tools, encouragement, and a steady hand — but it is you who will be doing the work.

A COMPANION FOR THE JOURNEY
I hope that over time, the blog will become a companion for you along the way — honest, practical, and rooted in the kind of experience that only comes from having lived a little. If there is something more specific you need, or if something here has resonated and you would like to talk, please do get in touch.

This is a place for the curious, the searching, the quietly brave.
Wherever you are on your journey, you are welcome here.
